Smart TV: To Buy or Not to Buy?
A smart TV is basically a television that is able to connect to the internet. This explains why some people will call them internet ready TVs and though this might sound useful, the truth is that they are rather overrated. Not that they are totally useless, but experts explain why this isn’t an excellent option as talked about here.
Security is something that you can place at the back seat when it comes to internet capable devices. Most homes today are actually being spied on courtesy of smart TVs and the last thing you want is for yours to be on this list. Your privacy will in most cases be breached if you had this device in your space due to the inbuilt cameras. With the thought that there is a hidden eye somewhere, you can bet that your stay at home won’t be as comfortable.
You have probably heard of attack by hackers online and smart TVs are probably no exception. Not only can a third party spy on all your moves but there is the additional risk of bad apps being installed as explained here and this is something that you wouldn’t want. Precious information on your files could in this way be retrieved by parties that you wouldn’t want.
Now that there might be someone spying, your watching habits could be monitored and the information handed to advertising firms. There are even some that will figure out your IP address so as to send you advertising emails and calls that are nothing short of bothersome. It would be a good idea to avoid smart TVs not unless you don’t mind being bombarded with such issues.
An interface that isn’t appealing is something that smart TV owners are forced to bear with as discussed here. The user is mostly forced to feed data using the remote and this can be an arduous task. Truth be told, you will in most cases get bored even prior to getting started with the movie.
The better part of smart phones will leave smart TVs in a trail of dust in terms of processing ability. Any intensive task will in most cases make the screen freeze. This can be something annoying now that your watching experience won’t have the kind of flow you would want.
Last on the list is the high price of this device as smart TV buyers explain, something that can poke holes through your wallet. Times are very hard these days and going for this will only make the financial situation worse. Lots of buyers consider a higher price to mean quality goods but this isn’t true.
